Next week, National Education Union
(NEU) members in the Girls Day Schools Trust (GDST) will be taking strike
action for the first time in the trust's 149-year history. The GDST's plan to
remove members from the Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS) will see teachers'
pensions cut by 20 per cent each year. And the trust's threat to use 'fire and
rehire' to impose the change has caused deep anger and upset among its
hard-working staff.
