CONSTITUTION AND AIMS

AIMS

The Green Party Trade Union Group (GPTU) is part of the Green Party of England and Wales. We are Green Party members who are Trade Union members and supporters working to bring the Green Party and the Trade Union movement closer together. The Green Party is a party of social and environmental justice. We are campaigning for an alternative to austerity, inequality and neoliberal economics, for the sake of both people and planet. So the Green Party wants to invest in our future and create decent jobs. We want a public NHS, renationalised railways and public services which are owned by the public. We are campaigning for a compulsory Living Wage, and a maximum pay ratio between the lowest and the highest paid in any organisation. To achieve all this, the Green Party believes we need to set Trade Unions free. Green policies, which are decided democratically by members, would strengthen the right to recognition and collective bargaining, and would guarantee the right to strike without fear of dismissal. We can’t put it better than Caroline Lucas, Green Party MP, who said: “We stand for fair pay, workplace rights, and against unfair and unnecessary cuts. Your fight is our fight.”
