JOIN US AT THE TUC COST OF LIVING DEMO

Join the Green Party Trade Union Group at the TUC's march and rally to demand real action on the cost of living crisis!
On Saturday 18 June, we'll be marching with trade unionists from across the UK, as the labour movement converges on London to demand the right to safety, security and prosperity for all workers.
Come and march with us and thousands of others from across our movement. Sign up below for more details 👇
JOIN THE MARCH
Working people have had enough. Everything’s going up but our wages. We're marching to Westminster to demand action on the cost-of-living crisis, including a real pay rise.
The Green Party has confronted this crisis head on - demanding mass home insulation to slash bills, a tax on corporate super-profits and support for those most in need, and a £15 minimum wage to put money in the hands of workers.
On Saturday 18 June, we'll be bringing all these ideas, enthusiasm and anger, to support our fellow trade unionists as we march on Westminster.
We're meeting at Regent's Park station at 11am, before joining the march from Portland Place. We'll move on to Westminster where we'll rally in front of the Houses of Parliament.
Bring placards, banners, your energy and your anger at this disgraceful government! 👇
JOIN THE MARCH
We're expecting local Green parties from across England to join us - if you would be interested in marching with other members of your local party or carrying a local party banner, please let us know by replying to this email.
Thanks and best wishes,
Green Party Trade Union Group

No new fossil fuels - time to tackle the climate and energy crisis!

No new fossil fuels - time to tackle the climate and energy crisis!

Campaign against Climate Change

With climate breakdown accelerating, and dependence on volatile fossil fuels sending energy bills soaring, now is not the time to double down on oil and gas extraction. Campaigners discuss the fights against new fossil fuel extraction - in the North Sea and onshore; other worrying developments that may go under the radar, that even claim to be 'green', like burning wood for energy; and the real solutions - shifting away from fossil fuels and creating climate jobs by insulating houses and developing renewable energy. How can we as climate campaigners best stand with those who have been forced (further) into poverty by the current crisis? Speakers: Tina Rothery, anti-fracking Nana Gabriel Davalos, Stop Cambo Suzanne Jeffery, chair, Campaign against Climate Change Wolfgang Kuchler, co-author of the buildings chapter in 'Climate Jobs: Building a workforce for the climate emergency' Katy Brown, Biofuelwatch Ruth London, Fuel Poverty Action Chair: Claire James, Campaign against Climate Change

Why the fight against climate change needs free and empowered unions

Why the fight against climate change needs free and empowered unions

Online public meeting, 7pm, Tuesday 17 May
Log in via Zoom here
In October 2021, Free Our Unions collaborated with Earth Strike’s “Empower the Unions” initiative to launch a statement calling for joint struggle between the labour and climate movements against anti-strike laws which constrain workers’ ability to fight for radical action on the environment.
This online meeting brings together labour and environmental activists to discuss how that struggle can be built.
This meeting is co-sponsored by: Free Our Unions, Earth Strike: Empower the Unions; Extinction Rebellion Trade Unionists; Green Party Trade Union Group; Campaign Against Climate Change Trade Union Group; Workers’ Liberty; Anti-Capitalist Resistance; Scot E3

Joseph Healy reads poem @ International Workers Memorial Day

Joseph Healy reads poem @ International Workers Memorial Day which is held by the unions every year to mark the deaths of those killed at work. UNITE organised this with speakers from the GMB as well, a nurse from St Thomas' and anti-racist activists from Stand Up to Racism. It was held at the Covid Memorial Wall which is the theme of the poem.
